On June 19th, the "2024 Blue Book on the Development of China's Green Hydrogen Industry" (hereinafter referred to as the "Blue Book"), jointly written by 11 units including Tianhe Yuanhydrogen and the GGII, was released in Changzhou Hydrogen Bay. This blue book is a comprehensive report that integrates industry research, technical analysis, and market forecasting. It is divided into seven chapters: industry development background, technological status and trends, market status and development prospects, analysis of green hydrogen demonstration projects, investment and financing analysis, summary and induction, and introduction of representative enterprises. Through detailed data analysis of the current situation and future trends of China's green hydrogen industry, a comprehensive and valuable information is provided for industry practitioners.

Alkaline technology route dominates the market, HYDRAGEN

At present, there are four main technological routes in hydrogen production technology, namely alkaline, PEM, AEM, and SOEC. The alkaline route has the highest market share and has become the dominant route in the domestic market.

Since 2020, the green hydrogen project has driven the demand for large-scale electrolytic cells, and alkaline electrolytic cells have been continuously developing towards a trend of large scale, high electrical density, low power consumption, wide load, and lightweight; From the perspective of alkaline electrolysis cell structure, it is currently mainly divided into two types: circular pressurized and square atmospheric pressure. From the selection of core materials for alkaline electrolytic cells, PPS separators and Renee nickel electrodes are currently the main applications. Some companies have launched electrolytic cells equipped with composite separators and new high density electrodes, but their actual performance still needs to be verified. The electrode frame of the electrolytic cell mainly adopts the form of carbon steel nickel plating, but the carbon steel material is relatively heavy. Currently, some companies have launched non-metallic electrode frames, and non-metallic electrode frames are mostly applied first in small standard square electrolytic cells. From the perspective of technical indicators, the actual operating current density of the 1000Nm ³/h alkaline electrolysis cell is still concentrated between 2500-4000A/m ², and the DC power consumption is in the range of 4.3-4.6kWh/Nm ³.

The Tianqing series alkaline electrolysis hydrogen production system developed by the company has a hydrogen production capacity of 30% -110% wide power fluctuations, combined with unique control technology, better adapted to renewable energy electricity. The "Tianqing" series alkaline electrolytic cell is safe and stable. After delivery, the product has been running safely for one year, achieving fault free operation without ignition, short circuit, and leakage during operation. It runs smoothly for more than 8 hours under 30% load conditions and has been fully verified by the market.

At the release site, Dr. Li Dan, the person in charge of the Tianhe Hydrogen Research and Development Center, also introduced the technological development direction of Tianhe Hydrogen. The company has carried out special research on the design of core materials, improving electrode stability, enhancing membrane hydrophilicity, reducing overall energy consumption of the system, expanding the load capacity of the electrolytic cell, and supporting the actual demand for frequent equipment start and stop in large-scale chemical application scenarios, improving response speed, and systematically improving the overall efficiency of the hydrogen production system.
